What it is
Craniosacral therapy uses a light touch, often no more than the weight of a nickel. I work with the subtle rhythm of the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord.
This isn't deep-tissue work. It may not feel like much is "happening" at all, and yet many clients describe it as one of the most profound sessions they experience in this practice. When the craniosacral system can move freely, the whole nervous system has more room to settle.
Who it may help
Clients often come to craniosacral therapy when they're dealing with:
- Ongoing tension or headaches, or a nervous system that feels stuck "on"
- Stress, or a body that just won't fully relax
- Jaw (TMJ) discomfort, neck and jaw tightness, or lingering effects of an old injury
- Sleep that doesn't feel restful, or a "wired and tired" feeling
Craniosacral therapy is a complementary therapy and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
What a session is like
You rest comfortably, fully clothed, on a treatment table while I use gentle, light holds, often at the head, neck, spine and sacrum. Many people drift into deep relaxation.
